For the 2nd consecutive year, Task Force (TF) Lone Star converged on the campus of Texas A&M University – Commerce (TAMU-C) located in Commerce, Texas to conduct Camp Challenge 2024 – JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC). TF Lone Star is made up of 13 high schools comprised of 130 Cadets from across North Texas.

Throughout the four-day event from 2 – 6 June 2024, Cadets engaged in a myriad of activities including a Leadership Reaction Course (LRC), rock wall climbing, first-aid & mental fitness, map reading, drill and ceremony, unit level team-building competitions, STEM, and Drones. A significant aspect of Camp Challenge 2024 was the emphasis on social emotional development and life-long learning. Cadets assumed leadership positions, led teams, were decisive and had to critically think and self-reflect.

The Recruiting Team from TAMU-C informed Cadets about available scholarship opportunities to attend TAMU-C. Recruiting Officers from Marion Military College and Texas Christian University spoke with the Cadets about attainable scholarship opportunities via the Army ROTC Scholarship and the Early Commissioning Program (ECP). High schools that make up TF Lone Star represent 9 Independent School Districts across North Texas => Alvarado ISD (Alvarado HS), Crowley ISD (North Crowley HS), DeSoto ISD (DeSoto HS), Duncanville ISD (Duncanville HS), Grand Prairie ISD (South Grand Prairie HS), Irving ISD (MacArthur HS), Lancaster ISD (Lancaster HS), Mansfield ISD (Lake Ridge HS/ Summit HS), Prosper ISD (Rock Hill HS), and Richardson ISD (Lake Highland HS/ Pearce HS/ Richardson HS).
