For the second consecutive year, Punahou JROTC cadets read the 2403 names of those who perished on the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial Center in Hawaii.  The roll call took almost two hours to complete and attracted family descendants, one who asked to read some names and two brothers whose father had died in the attack.

“I had a lot of great takeaways from this experience and it gave me a very meaningful opportunity to reflect upon the effects of Pearl Harbor and learn more about US History.  As a Japanese-American living in Hawaii, this was very eye-opening for me as I was able to look back on my heritage and think about the history and appreciate it more deeply.  I was able to meet new people, hear stories, and make meaningful connections with my history.”  Cadet Sergeant Kylee Hamamoto
