Members of Mililani Army JROTC Color Guard commemorates the observance of this unique Memorial Day Observance in Hale’iwa’ War Memorial, on O’ahu’s North Shore. The memorial was made after WWII for the ultimate sacrifices made by sixteen Service Members from the North Shore communities of Waialua, Hale’iwa, and Kahuku. The memorial square base represents the four corners of the world, the single shaft rising above represents the universal brotherhood of man, with the light at the top representing the beacon of eternal peace and goodwill. The sixteen artillery shells around the memorial represents our WWII heroes from the North Shore, who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Additionally, in 1959, the Korean War soldiers were added in a special observance, and in 1986, the soldiers of the Vietnam War were recognized and added to the Hale’iwa War Memorial.
The JROTC Cadets were tremendously honored to perform the Color Guard observance for the North Shore community.
