Miami Northwestern Senior High School (MNWSH) JROTC conducted a Color Guard for the Mayor, Chair and Vice Chair at the Board Miami Dade County Commissioners in Honor of Veterans’ Day 2022 and in special recognition of the family of Medal of Honor recipient Private First-Class Bruce W. Carter, USMC. The Mayor’s office commented “This is the very first time in recent history that we had all the Armed Forces flags.” The AI SFC John Oriol was quick to point out that we are in the processes of procuring the US Space Force flag. SAI COL Garcia led all the Chamber attendees in the patriotic recital of the United States Pledge of Allegiance. The Cadets were able to meet their elected officials and get a first-hand look at their government in action, a true Social Studies and Civics lesson. MNWSHS was specifically selected out the 18 Army JROTC, 4 Navy JROTC, 4 Air Force JROTC and 1 Coast Guard JROTC; Senior High Schools that traditionally make up Miami Dade County Public Schools’ JROTC program.
