The award-winning Miami Northwestern Senior High School JROTC Bulls Battalion hosted a solemn and powerful schoolwide ceremony on the morning of Sept. 11. The event, held in the school’s main courtyard, was organized in collaboration with the MNWSHS Band Director and the Vice President of the MNWSHS Student Government Association. It served as a dignified tribute to the over 2,977 innocent lives lost during the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
“Every time I hear taps being played, it has such emotional significance” said Assistant Principal Riddick, a combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, while Assistant Principal Ferrer a USMC veteran stood at attention in honor of the victims.
The ceremony stood as another tremendous reminder of the importance of peace, gratitude, and remembrance. It honored not only the victims but also the families, veterans, and first responders who sacrificed so much on that day. The tribute underscored the continued commitment of the Miami Northwestern Senior High School community to uphold the values of resilience, unity, and respect. Cadets from all six companies of the Bulls Battalion worked in close partnership with the school administration, faculty, and staff to ensure the success of the event. Their combined efforts made the ceremony both meaningful and impactful for the entire school body, as well as the first responders and veterans in attendance.
The school took 2 minuets of silence for those who lost their lives to save others, and presented the flag to those who were serving. Through reflection, music, and unity, Miami Northwestern Senior High School once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication to honoring the memory of those lost on 9/11 while inspiring its students to live with purpose, service, and respect for others.
