Marianas HS Participated in the Annual 2023 Wave, Rock, and Roll

On April 26, 2023, the Dolphin Battalion Participated in the Annual Wave, Rock, and Roll
Against Domestic Violence. Apart from the Dolphin Battalion, the Kagman High School
Battalion also participated in this event. The Annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month
(S.A.A.M) Wave, Walk, and Roll was held at the Kagman Community Center from 4:30 p.m. to
6:30 p.m. This event was held to spread awareness and had many other fun activities to offer
including Face Painting, Road Waving, and a Poster making competition.
Shortly after we arrived, cadets were briefed on what to do, then helped the event coordinators
unload and unpack supplies. After we unloaded the supplies, cadets lined up to register and
received their free SAAM shirts while waiting. Registration started at 4:30 p.m. with the waving
and walk and roll following shortly. To pass the time, many cadets teamed up and displayed
Phenomenal teamwork by working together for the poster-making competition. The winners of
the poster-making competition were said to be given two free P.I.C. water park passes. Sadly, we
did not turn in the poster in time to qualify.
“ It was a great experience. I had a lot of fun interacting with other cadets that I haven’t
met before. The other cadets from the Kagman Battalion were very nice and welcoming to our
cadets. When working with the other companies, they were very cooperative despite not
knowing each other well, but we did what we had to do and we made a beautiful poster but sadly
we couldn’t submit it to the competition.”

Following the competition, the cadets and other volunteers took their posters to the side of the
road to wave and cheer at cars passing by, to spread awareness about the dangers of sexual
assault and domestic violence. After a few minutes of waving, everybody got together to learn
the 4 new chants or cadences for the one-mile-long march around the Village of Kagman.
Afterward, the train began with a few members of the U.S. Army commanding and leading the
march. The march ended back at the Kagman Community Center.
“ The walk was fun, and it was very sweaty. Working on the poster was fun and very creative. It
was loud and very cheerful. Many people were very supportive of the cause. All in all, it was a
very good experience.”

“The event was fun because I was able to interact with people I didn’t really know. The wave and
walk were fun because there were a lot of people with us. Sadly I wasn’t able to interact with the
other people there. The poster-making was amazing because of the teamwork we had. Sadly we
weren’t able to submit the poster where the winner would get two PIC water pass tickets. There
were refreshments after the walk which was good.”

After the march, we were provided some refreshments and did our battalion AAR, then
gathered our belongings and headed home.
