LTC (R) ROBERT GERALD-LHHS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to LTC (R) Robert Gerald (JROTC) for being chosen as Lake Highlands High School’s Teacher of the Year!

LTC (RET) Gerald will compete against other RISD Teacher of the Year candidates in the hopes of being named a RISD STARS (Superior Teaching Achievement in RISD Schools) Teacher! He was chosen for all of his work with our Wildcat Battalion and for transforming our JROTC program in the five years he has been here. Some of his accomplishments include:

-The Wildcat Battalion received the HUD (Honor Unit Designation) award last year for receiving a program accreditation score of at least 95! This evaluation is conducted every three years.

-He has grown our JROTC program from 84 Cadets to 247 Cadets since he has been at LHHS!

-Three former Cadets are currently poised to receive a commission as a Second LT in the US Army!

-98% of the JROTC Class of 2024 has already been accepted to colleges and universities with several earning scholarships for as much as $100,000!
