Junction City Cadets Attend Coyote Day

The 190th Aerial Refueling Wing of the Kansas Air National Guard hosted its first ever “Coyote Day” inviting Cadets from nine high schools to visit Forbes Field in Topeka in order to learn about the unit’s mission, tour the KC-135 aircraft the 190th flies and to also learn about opportunities in the Kansas Air National Guard.

Cadets rotated through stations set up within a large hangar and completed a “Scavenger Hunt” series of questions to learn about the KC-135, weather operations, vehicle maintenance, fire fighting, security police operations, public affairs, and emergency management.  The visit was very fun and informative to all the Cadets.

Upon completion of the tour of the 190th ARW, the Cadets were treated to a tour of The Museum of the Kansas National Guard, which traces the history and exploits of the Kansas Guard in its 150 + year history.  The museum contains displays of artifacts of every conflict the nation has fought in since before the Civil War and Cadets got to see these up close and sometimes even hands-on.

This was a great opportunity for the Cadets to learn about the US military both past and present.
