Junction City AJROTC Cadets assisted the Geary County Schools’ Kansas Kids Fitness Day, an annual event for all the third graders in the district. This event has been held at the 12th street Rec Center in previous years, the district decided to hold it on the Junction City High School campus this year and the cadets were happy to help supervise and cheer on the youngsters.
More than 600 third graders participated, the first half of the day was for those elementary schools in Junction City with the second half being for the elementary schools on Fort Riley.
The day was full of fun games and activities which were designed to encourage the children to be active and there were also activities to promote healthy lifestyles, and teach about fire safety and emergency preparedness.
“This is fun”, said Trystin Huston, a LET 3 Cadet. “I hope we can do this again every year.”
