Washington, D.C. – The second part of JLAB, The Academic Bowl, held its opening ceremony on June 23, 2023, on Catholic University campus. JROTC services that were in attendance were, Army JROTC, Marine Corp JROTC, Navy JROTC, Air Force JROTC and Coast Guard JROTC.
During the opening ceremony, keynote speaker, former JROTC Cadet Maureen Loftus, gave a speech about her time as a JROTC Cadet with Lowell High School in San Francisco California. She was a member of JROTC academic bowl for 3 years and served as Captain during the 2021-2022 season.
Mr. Dave Bykowski gave rules and instructions to all the Cadets regarding the Academic competition.
The academic competition began Saturday June 24, 2023. Each branch of the JROTC units competes against other teams within their same branch. Then on Sunday June 25, 2023, the winners of each branch will then compete against the other branch until a final winner is determined.
