DICKSON, TN — Independence High School recently hosted a land navigation training event at Montgomery Bell State Park near Dickson, Tennessee on Saturday, 15 April. In attendance were over 50 JROTC cadets from Independence High School, Centennial High School, and Hickman County High School. Prior to the training event, cadets learned the fundamentals of map reading, terrain association, and use of the compass. Cadets put their newly learned skills to the test while trying to locate five of six points in an allotted three-hour period. After training, cadets enjoyed a buffet style lunch in Dickson.
