On November 14th, 2024, the Howard High School Lions Battalion was visited by Adam Burstein, a civilian employee in the Executive Office of the President (EOP). Giving a presentation about himself and his job, Adam Burnstein informed the battalion of how the components of the EOP work together to serve the country. Each student was instructed to take notes and ask questions during the presentation as well.

At the start of class, Adam Burstein first introduced himself to each company and gave a few facts about himself. He has two daughters, one of which is involved in Howard High School’s JROTC program. He continued to go through his slides, informing the students of things from how government agencies work, what types of agencies and departments exist, which one he is a part of, and so on. To engage students in this presentation, he encouraged them to ask questions and he answered them with long, detailed answers and explanations. Around the end of his presentation, he provided a small, entertaining presidential quiz to wrap up his presentation.

Overall, this visit benefited the students as they learned about what it is like to serve the country from places other than the military. By informing the students about his occupation, the students have more information about their career choices and gain a level of respect towards those who work in support of the President of the United States.
