On October 28, Howard High School hosted its second Raiders competition, showcasing remarkable growth and determination within its teams. Held at Frederick Douglass High School, the event witnessed spirited competition among various schools. The team competed in the 5K, rope bridge, logistics relay, litter carry, and TPFC. Despite challenges, the teams exhibited tremendous progress in just two months of rigorous preparation.

The camaraderie among Howard’s teams was evident throughout the competition. One notable highlight was the team’s perseverance despite getting momentarily lost during the run. Their resilience was portrayed through their recovery and triumph over several teams in the mixed category, demonstrating their unwavering spirit and sportsmanship.

Another standout moment was the TPFC Howard Male Team’s exceptional performance, securing first place by an impressive margin of 25 seconds. Their dedication and hard work paid off significantly, not only achieving victory but also setting a new personal record for the 5k, clocking an astounding 25 minutes. The competition fostered a sense of unity, with teams pushing past obstacles, qualifying for Brigade (with the Male Team placing 2nd and Mixed Team 3rd), and ultimately celebrating the joy of collective achievement and growth.

In the words of the captain, C/MSG Vivien Nguyen, “I’m very proud of how far all the teams have come in just two months. We’ve witnessed tremendous progress!” The event served not only as a platform for competitive success but also as a testament to the resilience, determination, and unwavering teamwork exhibited by Howard Lions Battalion’s Raiders.
