Story Photos by: Georgetta Lowe and CW3 (R) Dwight Swindle
Dwight Swindle, CW3 (R) JROTC Instructor at G.W. Carver High School, and Georgetta Lowe, Professional School Counselor and Peer Helpers Advisor at Norwood Elementary School came together and planned a Day of Learning through Junior Achievement. Approximately 40 G.W. Carver Cadets introduced materials to Norwood Elementary students in the areas of meteorology, the environment, business, and economics, to name a few.
Cadets admitted that they came out of their comfort zones, but that the experience was fulfilling. Along with sharing information with elementary students, they gained a sense of responsibility and a newfound appreciation for what teachers go through daily.
This was Norwood’s Peer Helpers first big event of the school year, and they all seemed to enjoy the learning experience.
