Newport News, VA – The Denbigh High School JROTC Patriot Color Guard proudly presented the colors at the opening ceremony of the Newport News One City Marathon on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Braving the frigid early morning temperatures at Newport News Park, the cadets showcased unwavering discipline, patriotism, and resilience.
As the sun rose over the starting line, the Color Guard stepped forward with precision, carrying the nation’s colors with honor. Their crisp movements and steadfast composure set a tone of reverence and unity for runners and spectators alike. Despite the biting cold, the cadets remained focused, demonstrating the core values of JROTC—leadership, duty, and respect.
The One City Marathon, an annual event celebrating community spirit and endurance, drew participants from across the region. The presence of the Denbigh JROTC Patriot Color Guard added a touch of tradition and military excellence to the occasion, reminding everyone of the dedication and grit of young leaders in the making. Their presence not only honored the nation but also inspired those preparing to embark on their 26.2-mile journey.
Through their service and perseverance, the Denbigh JROTC Patriot Color Guard once again proved that dedication and honor know no weather limits.
