Getting Started
Welcome to Army JROTC! This section outlines the steps for new instructors, including certification timelines, required documentation, and interview procedures. Applicants must submit:
- DA-style photo in Army Service Uniform
- DD Form 214 (Member 4 Copy)
- Physical exam (DD Forms 2808 and 2807-1 or CCF 211-R)
- Official transcripts showing degree awarded
- Body Fat Worksheet (DA Form 5500/5501 if applicable)
- Letter of recommendation from current commander
- Ethics training certificate from Will Interactive
Applicants must complete an interview conducted by certified personnel after receiving notification from Cadet Command.
Accreditation
JROTC is accredited by Cognia and scored 368 out of 400 on the Index of Education Quality. The JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) is governed by USACC Regulation 145-8-3. Key updates include:
- Drill, In-Ranks, and Color Guard each worth 15 points
- CI and Service Learning briefings limited to 30 minutes
- Digital portfolios recommended with privacy statements
- Highest unit designation changed to HUD (gold star)
- Second highest designation changed to Proficient
NOCTI CTE Blueprint Information
Army JROTC aligns with Career & Technical Education (CTE) standards through NOCTI credentialing. Available downloads:

Instructor Distance Learning
Instructors must complete annual ethics training via Will Interactive's "The Good Teacher." Use Mozilla or Chrome for best access. Save and print your certificate for your portfolio.

Education Technology
The Curriculum Management System (CMS) includes CMv3 and SMARTCadet platforms. It provides centralized access to:
- Lesson Plans
- Student Learning Plans
- Performance Assessment Tasks
- Unit/LET e-textbooks
- Cadet Notebooks

Textbooks
Digital CMv3 textbooks and notebooks are available in SMARTCadet under Global Resources. Instructors and Cadets can download them from:

Hard copies can be ordered for free from the Government Publishing Office (GPO). Instructions are located in SMARTCadet and CMv3 under "Procedures to Order CMv3 Hard Copy Books."
Instructor Survey
Instructors are encouraged to complete the annual feedback survey hosted by AdvancED. The survey informs program improvements and leadership decisions. It reopens mid-September each year.
