From May 27 through May 31, 260 Cadets from Fulton, Gwinnett and Cherokee county schools participated in the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) at Columbus State University and Fort Moore in Columbs, Georgia. The Cadets came from 16 different schools: Banneker, Berkmar, Centennial, Central Gwinnett, Creekside, Creekview, Discovery, Grayson, Langston Hughes, Norcross, North Springs, Riverwood, Roswell, South Gwinnett, Tri-Cities, and Westlake.
Throughout the week, cadets were engaged in a rigorous schedule, starting at 6:00 a.m. and concluding at 10:00 p.m. Their activities included: obstacle courses, rappelling, drown-proofing, swimming, field games, STEM (VEX robotics and drones), land navigation, and a 34-foot parachute simulator.
In addition to these physical challenges, Cadets also rotated through leadership positions, gaining valuable experience and receiving constructive feedback. The college food received enthusiastic reviews, with pizza and wings being favorites. Beyond these activities, Cadets formed lasting friendships, developed leadership skills, and conquered personal fears.
