Butler Bulldogs show their skills at the Freedom Drill Meet
On Saturday, October 28th Butler High School Army JROTC Bulldogs from 4th Brigade traveled all the way to Freedom High School early in the morning; to compete in their annual BOB qualifier. They arrived at Freedom with their head in the game ready to tear up the competition. They started the early morning with LET 1 Squad with their commander C/SGT Smith, describing her experience as “With the help of our parents and other Butler Cadets, we were able to have peace of mind before we had to do events.” Next, it was Squad Armed and Squad Unarmed, followed by Platoon Armed and Unarmed. Then Color Guard, their most challenging event along with exhibition. Even as new challenges showed up and Cadets overcame previous injuries, this turned out to be no sweat for the bulldogs as they left the competition with 3rd place armed platoon, 3rd place unarmed platoon, 3rd place unarmed squad, 2nd place armed squad, 3rd place color guard, 2nd place LET 1 squad, and 1st place armed inspection. Taking them to 2nd place overall! The Drill Team commander SGM/Kassebaum reflected on the experience “It was a great time competing with my team who did their absolute best and it showed.” The team showed their mighty skills and the Butler spirit, next stop Nationals!
