On September 22, 2023, Cadet Major Ethan Young was presented the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement by U.S. Representative Michael Guest, 3rd District, Mississippi.

Cadet Major Ethan Young is a senior at Brandon High School and is currently serving as the Battalion Executive Officer of Brandon’s Army Junior ROTC Program.  He has also served as  Raider Commander, S3 Officer, and S2 Officer.

As part of the JROTC Program, he is a member of Raiders, Sabre Guard, and the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl Teams. He also attended the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge at Camp Shelby. Through JROTC, Cadet Young has received the Order of Daedalians Medal, Military Order of World Wars Award of Merit, and the Association of the United States Army Leadership Medal.

At school, he is a member of the National Honor Society and competes on the school’s Varsity Swim Team.  School awards include the ACT High Honors Recognition and membership in the BOE (Brandon Over Everything) Club.

He is ranked 116th in his class of 386 seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 and an ACT score of 30.  Outside of the school he has earned the Rank of Eagle Scout and is focused on giving back to the community having accumulated over 280 community service hours.   After graduation, Cadet Young plans to attend Mississippi State University and pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Aerospace Engineering.
