Honoring Heroes: A Recap of a Memorable Veterans Day Program

Veterans Day is a cherished occasion that allows us to express gratitude and pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the military. This Veterans Day the Ansbach JROTC Cadets put on an outstanding program, highlighting the stories of four remarkable heroes.

The program began with the presentation of colors by Cadets C/2LT Lily Gaspay, C/1SG Sydney Mendoza, C/SGT Jazlynn Symak, and C/PFC Victoria Ortiz Cardenas. This was followed by the national anthem performed by the Ansbach Middle High School band and the Cadet creed led by the Battalion Commander, C/LTC Kenton Duplessie, and the Command Sergeant Major, C/CSM Laysha Bobbit of the 9th JROTC Cougar Battalion.

The program consisted of many talented students portraying and or telling the stories of Sergeant Alvin York, First Lieutenant Audie Murphy, Mr Bob Hope, and Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez. C/2LT Lauren Moseley accompanied by pianist Mr. Shannon Daniels sang “Hallelujah: the Veterans Version” and later played Mr. Bob Hope to introduce C/SSG Harley Woolever and her six energetic backup dancers to perform “These Boots Are Made For Walking.” Next, there was a presentation of a “Quilt of Valor” to our Principal Mr. Popielski, and the presentation of boutonnieres to all veterans and current U.S. service members.

The Veterans Day program was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all who participated. It served as a poignant reminder of the bravery and selflessness of our veterans, and the importance of honoring their service. Such programs play a vital role in fostering gratitude, unity, and a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by those who have served. As we reflect on this remarkable event, let us continue to honor and support our veterans, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
