Five Ansbach cadets recognized Mr. Tyrone Wylie, a Vietnam Veteran, at a National POW/MIA Recognition Day commemoration on September 16, 2022. Cadets presented a Quilt of Valor to Mr. Tyrone Wylie while narrator, Cdt/CPL Eliana Figueroa, read his service record and what the Quilt of Valor represents. Cdt//1LT Isaac Willis remarked, “I felt privileged to be able to bestow recognition to someone who truly deserves it.”
Cadet/MAJ Emma Pirner also presented Mr. Wylie with a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin as a lasting memento of our Nation’s thanks while Cadet/ CPL Haley Lorman pinned a boutonniere on his lapel. Reflecting after the event, Cdt/CPL Lorman stated, “I felt blessed to recognize Mr. Wylie who worked so hard and sacrificed so much for our country.”
The ceremony was organized by members of the local American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. The Quilt of Valor was donated by the “Beach Lovin’ Quilters of the Carolinas.”
