The Army JROTC Cadets of Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences collected over 300 lbs. of donated clothing during February and March 2024. The clothing was donated by students and faculty of the school. The Cadets selected the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Family Center as the recipient of the clothing. They selected this organization due to its work in helping families settling in the Charlotte area that have a need.

“Coming from an immigrant family, this event had a personal meaning to me because I know what it is like to not have the money to buy clothing when first arriving in the United States and settling in Charlotte.”

The CMS Family Center operates a boutique where school district families can receive clothing and other support to get them started in the community and ease the process of students transitioning to a new school.
