Dwight Swindle, CW3 (R) JROTC Instructor at G.W. Carver High School, and Georgetta Lowe, Professional School Counselor and Peer Helpers Advisor at Norwood Elementary School came together and planned a Day of Learning through Junior Achievement. Approximately 40 G.W. Carver Cadets introduced materials to Norwood Elementary students in the areas of meteorology, the environment, business, and economics, to name a few.
Cadets admitted that they came out of their comfort zones, but that the experience was fulfilling. Along with sharing information with elementary students, they gained a sense of responsibility and a newfound appreciation for what teachers go through daily.
This was Norwood’s Peer Helpers first big event of the school year, and they all seemed to enjoy the learning experience.
