The Army JROTC program at Meadowdale Career Technology Center (MCTC) offers Introduction to Global Awareness as an elective course within the program. This course introduces students to world geography, history, and culture. To enhance classroom instruction, students recently attended a Naturalization Ceremony.

On 15 November, students attended a Naturalization Ceremony held at the Federal building located in downtown Dayton (OH). Cadets witnessed 47 people from 26 countries become US Citizens. Prior to taking the Oath of Citizenship, all 47 attendees stood, introduced themselves, and shared the name of their country of origin. Several of them were members of the Armed Forces. Cadets heard the accents of people from many of the countries we have discussed in class, ie. Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Cadets were genuinely moved by the joy on the faces of the attendees, their families, and friends. After receiving the Oath of Citizenship, the newly naturalized citizens had an opportunity to take a picture with Judge Caroline Gentry, the judge who the judge who administered the oath.
