Arsenal Tech JROTC Triumphs in 2023 Veterans Day Parade Competition
Indianapolis, IN – November 14, 2023. In a display of precision and discipline, the Arsenal Tech High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) took on six other local JROTC schools at the 2023 Veterans Day Parade Competition held in downtown Indianapolis on Friday, November 10th.
Underneath a clear sky and a warm sun, the Titan JROTC Battalion, boasting an impressive turnout of 82 Cadets, marched in synch while shouting military cadence responses. The chilly breeze complemented the atmosphere, creating an ideal setting for a day dedicated to honoring veterans.
The Arsenal Tech JROTC not only outnumbered the competition but outshone them as well, catching the attention of onlookers and even law enforcement. At the conclusion of the parade, MSG (R) Brian Giacobbe shared a proud moment, stating, “I had an Indianapolis Metro Police Department officer come up to me when we were done and say he was two or three blocks away and wanted to meet the Cadets whose voices were echoing off the buildings.”

The dedication and hard work put into their training were evident as the Titan JROTC Battalion claimed top honors in the competition, receiving both the prestigious President’s Award and the Overall Top School award from the Veterans Day Council of Indianapolis. Their performance reflected not only their commitment to excellence but also their deep respect for the significance of Veterans Day.
Hours of rigorous training in military formation and meticulous attention to detail in their Class A uniforms paid off for these young high school Cadets. Their outstanding performance resonated with the audience, leaving a lasting impression on both spectators and event organizers.
One Cadet, reflecting on the experience, remarked, “We looked good, but so did everyone else. It was really cool to see all the different schools lined up in the parade. This was my first year, and I can’t wait for next year!”
The Arsenal Tech JROTC program, established in 1916, is one of the oldest in the country. Its rich history and commitment to instilling values of leadership, discipline, and patriotism have contributed to the success of the Titan JROTC Battalion, setting a standard for excellence in the 2023 Veterans Day Parade Competition. As they bask in the glory of their victory, the Cadets of Arsenal Tech JROTC look forward to continuing their legacy in the years to come.
