Reno High School Army JROTC Cadet Battalion Commander from 8th Brigade meets LTG (R) Leslie Smith right before marching in the Veterans Day Parade in Reno NV.
Lt. Gen. (R) Leslie Smith spent his 2023 Veterans Day in Reno NV, talking to high school JROTC Cadets who were preparing to march in the Veterans Day parade. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Athena Mckemy, the Cadet battalion commander from Reno High School, had the privilege of meeting and talking to LTG Smith. Athena said it was one of the highlights of her senior year. LTG Smith talked to Athena about college and the Senior ROTC program. He congratulated her for being the battalion commander and for her recent travel to Ft. Knox, KY for Raider Nationals. Athena has participated in the Raider team, Rifle Team, Drill Team, and Color Guard Team.
