On September 11, 2023 Miami Northwestern SR High School held a school-wide dignified 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with well over 1,400 Students, Administrators, Faculty and Staff attending to participate in the solemn ceremony.

The JROTC Cadets of the “Bulls” Battalion planned, organized, staffed, rehearsed and executed the entire event. The Mistress of Ceremonies was Cadet Captain A. Bouhouhou. Taps were rendered by Mr. C. Norton the school’s Marching and Orchestra Band Director. “This shows that Cadets not only know how to follow, but they also know how to lead from front” said SFC J. Oriol the Army Instructor.

Although Miami Dade County Public Schools JROTC consists of 18 Army, 4 Navy,  3 Air Force and 1 Coast Guard unit, it is believed Miami Northwestern SHS is the only school to hold an annual school-wide ceremony with standing room only in honor of the victims and first responders of 9/11 terrorist attacks.
