Cadets from Cañon City High School JROTC, along with JROTC units from around Colorado and surrounding states, participated in the Junior ROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) at Fort Carson, Colorado from 5-9 June 2023. Cadets participated in a variety of adventure activities including a Leadership Reaction Course (LRC), rappelling, rope bridge construction, basic outdoor skills training in shelter, water procurement, and fire building, and the opportunity to visit active-duty units and see static displays of U.S. Army equipment. JCLC also provided the opportunity for cadets to take company-level leadership positions to hone leadership skills in preparation for school year 23-24. The above photo shows Cadet Grace Grosch (lower right) cheering on her sister Cadet Kathleen Grosch as she negotiates an obstacle on the LRC.
