On Saturday, May 20, 2023, South View High School Instructor SGM (R) Ruby Murray was the first Army JROTC Instructor to be inducted into the Veterans Rock Hall of Fame. SGM (R) Murray received the award at The Union League Liberty Hills Golf Club & Conference Center located in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
Women Veterans ROCK hosted its Annual Summer Civic Leadership Retreat for Women Veterans, Military Women, Military Families and JROTC Cadet Girls. Sergeant Major (R) Ruby Murray received a letter along with the award, congratulating SGM (R) Murray to The 2023 Leaders & Legends Award Honoree of The Year. The letter stated, ” The Women Veterans ROCK! The Community of Women Veterans & Military Families honored SGM (R) Murray the with the legendary and prestigious “2023 Leaders & Legends Honoree of The Year Award.””. This award is presented to distinguished women leaders who provide exemplary industry leadership; legendary community service; and our honorees create life changing results in service to humankind. Your service to America’s Youth demonstrates a remarkable commitment to excellence in public education; creativity in civic engagement; and legendary leadership in your post-military community service. You are a powerful role model – and – We Salute You!” They recognized her for her many noteworthy achievements as the Luncheon Keynote Speaker on Armed Forces Day, during Military Appreciation Month in America.
