Eligibility Criteria
Noncommissioned Officers (E-6 to E-9) – Separated or retired within past 5 years with at least 8 years of cumulative honorable service.
Officers (W-1 to W-5, O-3 to O-6) – Same requirement: 8+ years of honorable service, separated or retired within past 5 years.
ARNG/USAR (Actively Serving/TPU) – Same eligibility plus Letter of Recommendation from current Commander and current DA Form 5016 or NGB 23A.
Refer to AR 145-2 and CCR 145-2 for instructor duties and program responsibilities.

Pay & Compensation
Army JROTC cost-shares newly hired instructors under a 10-month (300-day) or 11-month (330-day) contract. Pay is based on the standardized JROTC Instructor Pay Scale (JSIPS).

- JROTC Unit Management System (JUMS)

Applicability
All individuals who regularly interact with children under 18 in Army-sponsored programs must undergo initial background checks and periodic re-verifications. This includes JROTC instructors and others expected to have regular contact with minors.
Important Notices
- DO NOT download or submit any forms until you receive a notification letter from the Chief, Instructor Management Division.
- Current JROTC instructors are not considered “new hires” but still require checks. Transfers do not exempt them.
