Sisters, Olivia and Sophia Livaudais from the Independence High School JROTC Program recently earned top honors while competing in a sporter-class air rifle match at Academy Park in Franklin, Tennessee. There are five separate matches in the Williamson County Schools JROTC Air Rifle League. During the matches, JROTC cadets from six different high schools across Williamson County compete while shooting at bullseye targets from a distance of 33 feet with their sporter-class air rifles. There are two categories for our competitors which are the varsity and junior varsity categories. Olivia Livaudais recently placed first in the match in the varsity category while her sister, Sophia placed first in the junior varsity category. “I’m really proud of these girls,” said her Senior Army Instructor, Major Jay Massey. “Olivia and Sophia are amazing young students that have both excelled in our JROTC program. Both girls are smart, energetic, and take pride in doing things correctly. ” “Olivia is my air rifle tam captain this year, and honestly, she’s the best I’ve had and I’ve had some good ones,” added Massey. Independence JROTC competes again at the next match in October.
