More than 150 JROTC Cadets from 9 schools competed in various competitions September 15 , at Turner County High School to see who would be named the best of the best. The Raider weekend was comprised of three different competitions (1.5 mile run, Tire Flip and Rope Bridge) designed to test the strength, teamwork and physical and mental endurance of cadets from across the county. Mitchell County JROTC traveled to observe and participated in the Rope Bridge training. Cadets Michael Guyton, Jayden Davidson and William Reese learned the principles on how to tie the Swiss in order to have our team ready to conduct bridging operations next year. To master tying the Swiss seat is very important because it sets the foundation to compete in the rope bride competition; which consists of: The rope bridging competition itself will be a timed event consisting of the movement from the starting point (near side pole), bridge construction, crossing bridge, and final tear down of the bridge. At the start point all equipment will began on the ground and untouched. At the command GO, cadets may touch their equipment and began to move ten (10) personnel across the hazard area. Time will stop when all equipment has been properly moved beyond the far pole and the team has called TIME. Each team will have the opportunity to conduct the Swiss seat portion and the rope bridging portion two times.
Mitchell County JROTC program continues to build on strong foundation.
