On September 12, 2022, members of the Garfield High School Army JROTC Mighty Bulldawg battalion -1SG Eason Senior Army Instructor – SSG Buckhannon Army Instructor, Director of Army Instructions LAUSD Col Darryl Hensley gathered to commemorate the 21st Anniversary of 911. Garfield High School community was also well represented with Mr. Andres Favela Principal, Faculty/Staff, GHS Leadership- Mrs. Hillary Herrington, Band Brass Ensemble – Mr. Paul Bailey Band Director all planned and join together to commemorate the 21st Anniversary of 911.
In addition, other special quest in attendance were Mr. Antonia Chappa – Field Director/Military Liaison for County Supervisor Hilda Solis, California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Sherriff Department, Los Angeles Unified School
Police, GI Forum, GHS Alumni Association – Vietnam Monument Memorial Committee, Navy and Marine Corps Recruiting. Yes, a day for us all to reflect on that tragic day 21 years ago. “LET US NEVER FORGET”
