The 9th JROTC Battalion hosted a Veteran’s Day Program at Ansbach Middle High School. This year’s theme was one of the seven Army values, “Selfless Service.” The inspiring stories of Army Sergeant First Class Alwyn C. Cashe and Navy Surgeon Dr. Nathan Krissoff were shared. The cadets performed poems and songs for the Veterans and presented a Quilt of Valor.
The cadets made sure to keep things interesting! They shared honorable stories about the brave veterans. They also recited a moving poem called “We Honor You Today.” A special part of the program was when cadets beautifully performed two songs “Stand by Me” and “Flag of My Country” for the crowd.
Veterans are very important to America and deserve recognition. This event is our way of thanking the Veterans for their hard work. Being able to recognize and thank Veterans is an honor. The Cadets wanted to show the Veterans and service members just how much we appreciate them. The Quilt of Valor is a quilt made with love that is given to honor a soldier that has been touched by war. Staff Sergeant Johansen Bobbitt received one from his two daughters, Cadet/CPT Laysha Bobbitt and Cadet/CPT Vanessa Bobbitt. At the end of the program, cadets pinned boutonnières on veterans as a sign of appreciation.
