As part of a long-standing tradition, family, and friends of the East Los Angeles community gathered at Cinco Puntos at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month for the Veterans Day Ceremony, the annual event was sponsored by VFW Post 1033 Post Commander Mr. Tony Zapata and welcomed state, county, and local officials to honor our esteemed guests, our veterans.

Each year members of the Garfield High School JROTC elite Color Guard are invited and have the distinct honor to post and retire the colors of our nation. The Veteran’s Day event featured multiple keynote speakers from the Office of Los Angeles County of Veteran’s Affairs, a helicopter flyover by the Los Angeles Police Department, a presentation of special guests and certificates of recognition, and the release of fly home pigeons.

On behalf of the Mighty Bulldawg Battalion, we are deeply honored to participate in our community’s Veteran’s Day celebration. Let us always remember our Veterans, and their sacrifices through many war campaigns for us to have a peaceful nation.
