On November 7, 2024, Denbigh High School’s JROTC cadets celebrated a milestone event during the annual “First Stripe Night” ceremony, earning their first official promotion within the cadet corps. The ceremony, held in front of an audience of proud family members, school faculty, and friends, was a meaningful step for these young leaders. Each cadet was awarded their “first stripe,” a symbol of dedication and commitment to the values of the JROTC program.
In a special tradition, family members were invited to present the promotion insignia, making the moment even more memorable for the cadets and their loved ones. This personal touch allowed family members to take part in their cadet’s journey, marking the beginning of their growth within the JROTC ranks.
Denbigh High School Principal Dr. Adria Strothers highlighted the numerous benefits of the JROTC program during the ceremony, noting how it fosters leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Dr. Strothers emphasized that the program not only prepares students for potential military careers but also equips them with essential skills that will serve them well in any path they choose.
With this promotion, the new cadets were officially welcomed into the Denbigh JROTC cadet corps, embracing the values and responsibilities that come with wearing the uniform. First Stripe Night was a celebration of growth, achievement, and the start of a promising journey for Denbigh High School’s future leaders.
