In the face of an emergency, three Brackenridge High School Army JROTC Cadets from San Antonio utilized the leadership and training learned in Army JROTC to control the situation and provide care to an injured officer.

During a visit to a rival high school football game, Cadets Jonothan Huerta, Ethan, and Josiah Mezquiti heard a gunshot as they exited their bus. The Cadets quickly located a school resource officer whose service weapon accidentally discharged, leaving the officer injured. Without hesitation, these young men jumped in to take action, providing order and care until medical personnel arrived. No one else was injured, and the officer is expected to recover.

We are so proud of these Cadets, their quick thinking, and their dedication to leadership excellence.
